Kroger Taps Ex-Goya Exec to Lead Multicultural Biz

Angel Colon has joined The Kroger Co. to spearhead the grocer's multicultural business development, in a newly created position at its Cincinnati headquarters.

"We strive to connect better with our broad range of customers every day, in every store," said Donald Becker, Kroger's e.v.p./merchandising. "In his new role, Angel will help us improve our efforts in this important area as we develop even better ways to tailor products and services for our customers."

Bringing 16 years of CPG industry experience to his new role at Kroger, Colon previously held leadership positions in sales and ethnic marketing for Goya Foods and The Kellogg Co., the latter of which he had served in a key role on the company's ethnic marketing team, while leading its Hispanic and African American promotion efforts.

Kroger operates 2,486 supermarkets and multi-department stores in 31 states under two dozen local banners.
