Kroger Recalls Ice Cream for Unlabeled Eggs

CINCINNATI - The Kroger Co. here said its Inter-American Products manufacturing division launched a recall of private label ice cream because it might contain eggs even though eggs are not listed on the ingredient label.

The ice cream subject to recall was distributed only to Ralphs Food Stores in California and Food 4 Less stores in Southern California, Kroger said. The product is Private Selection Classic Churned Light Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream in 1.75-quart containers. No other Private Selection Ice Cream products are affected by this recall.

People who have an allergy to eggs run the risk of a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume this product, the grocer said, added that it had received no reports of illnesses linked to consumption of the ice cream.
