Kroger Joins Forum for Firms Committed to Minority, Women-Owned Businesses

CINCINNATI -- The Kroger Co. here was inducted into the Billion Dollar Roundtable (BDR) Inc. because it now spends $1 billion annually with minority and women-owned suppliers.

The Billion Dollar Roundtable is a forum for corporations that have achieved $1 billion or more in spending with minority and women-owned businesses. Kroger joins 13 other members, including The Procter & Gamble Co., Toyota Manufacturing North America Inc., and IBM Corp.

"Minority and women-owned business partners are important to Kroger's success," said Carver Johnson, Kroger's chief diversity officer.

Kroger operates 2,468 supermarkets and multi-department stores in
31 states under two dozen local banners.
