Kroger Inks Deal for New Site in Saginaw, Mich.

CINCINNATI -- The Kroger Co. here will open a flagship 70,000-square-foot store in Saginaw, Mich. that will be equipped with environmentally friendly floors and energy saving features for refrigeration and lighting, as well as a full complement of fresh and service departments.

The store, planned for an opening in November 2008, will be the largest supermarket in Michigan’s Saginaw/Midland/Bay City area. Centro Properties Group confirmed it has executed a lease with Kroger at Green Acres Shopping Center, a neighborhood center currently under redevelopment.

“Centro’s redevelopment and revitalization of Green Acres has afforded Kroger the ability to invest in and open a new store complete with a deli, bakery, sushi bar, sandwich station, and meat and seafood departments,” said Kroger spokesman Dale Hollandsworth. “The new store will also feature an expanded drive-through pharmacy, fuel center, Natures Market, automotive services and a Starbucks.”
