Kroger Great Lakes Division Introduces Starbucks and Boar's Head

LIVONIA, Mich. -- Select Kroger Great Lakes Division grocery stores in Michigan and Ohio are launching Starbucks shops in 18 stores and Boar's Head products in 26 stores, beginning in the summer and fall of 2003.

Kroger's new partnerships with Starbucks and Boar's Head are two more ways the grocer is looking to satisfy the growing needs of grocery shoppers in an increasingly competitive retail environment.

"This is grocery shopping at its best," said Jon Flora, president of Kroger Great Lakes Division. "By introducing Starbucks shops into Kroger stores, people will be able to enjoy a good, hot cup of coffee while they shop. Likewise, the Boar's Head product offerings will provide Kroger shoppers with a premium selection of deli products not found in many other grocery stores."

The first Kroger Great Lakes Division Starbucks shop is already up and running at the Kroger Fresh Fare store in Rochester, Mich., which opened in late spring as part of the store's grand opening.

Boar's Head products are already available in some of the Michigan store locations, and will continue to launch at select remaining Michigan and Ohio stores throughout 2003.
