Kroger, Grain Foods Foundation Partner for Bread Campaign

DENVER, Colo. -- The Grain Foods Foundation (GFF) here is running a campaign to promote bread in 1,800 Kroger stores nationwide in celebration of National Bread Month, this month.

Kroger will highlight the nutritional value of bread and grains through point-of-purchase materials in stores across the country, which will be supported by a creative message that addresses the necessity of bread in making sandwiches.

Other elements of the GFF's campaign, which coincides with the 100th anniversary of the invention of the first electric toaster, includes a partnership with television personality, cookbook author and food and wine connoisseur, Ted Allen, who will conduct a nationwide broadcast interview tour touting "toast-focused" recipes.

The GFF, a joint venture of members of the milling and baking industries formed in 2004, is dedicated to advancing the public's understanding of the beneficial role grain-based foods play in the human diet. Directed by a board of trustees, funding for the foundation is provided through voluntary donations from private grain-based food companies and is supplemented by industry associations.
