Kroger Clinches Deal with NW Indiana Associates
Associates of the Kroger Co.’s Central Division have ratified agreements with United Food and Commercial Workers Local 700, covering some 800 employees working in nine Kroger stores in Northwest Indiana.
“Kroger and UFCW reached a good agreement that provides wage increases, affordable quality health care and a stable pension for our associates and their families,” said Bob Moeder, Kroger Central Division president. “Our associates will continue to have one of the best total compensation packages in our industry in this region. We remain grateful for the outstanding service our associates provide to our customers.”
Based in Indianapolis, the Kroger Central Division includes 147 food stores, 122 pharmacies and 64 fuel centers operating under five banners: Kroger, Scott’s, Owen’s, Hilander and Pay Less.
The nation’s largest traditional grocery retailer, Cincinnati-based Kroger employs more than 338,000 associates who serve customers in 2,449 supermarkets and multidepartment stores in 31 states under two dozen local banner names including Kroger, City Market, Dillons, Jay C, Food 4 Less, Fred Meyer, Fry’s, King Soopers, QFC, Ralphs and Smith’s.
