Kroger and UFCW Local 227 Reach Tentative Agreement in Kentucky
The Kroger Co. said yesterday that it reached a tentative labor agreement with UFCW Local 227 in Kentucky that covers more than 11,200 associates at 87 stores in both Kentucky and southern Indiana. The previous four-year contract expired at midnight Thursday morning.
Kroger, based in Cincinnati, said the UFCW has agreed to fully recommend the tentative agreement to its members. Details of the tentative agreement are not being released publically before ratification, the company said.
This is one of several labor pacts recently inked by the UFCW and Kroger, which operates 2,486 supermarkets and multi-department stores in 31 states under two dozen local banners.
