King Kullen Raises $100K for Children's Charity

BETHPAGE, N.Y. -- King Kullen Grocery Co. said its 2008 James A. Cullen Memorial Golf Outing raised $100,000 for Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York, an organization that finds adoptive and foster homes for children on Long Island and in New York City.

"The annual golf outing was inaugurated to carry on their support of Little Flower’s mission of uniting children with families,” said King Kullen v.p. Thomas K. Cullen during a check presentation last week. “As a family-operated business, we at King Kullen understand the importance of family ties, and are committed to helping Little Flower Children and Family Services serve underprivileged families in our area."

King Kullen has raised millions of dollars for Little Flower since it held the first golf outing in 1983. In addition, the Cullen family has played an integral role in the construction of the eight cottages that provide a residential setting for more than 100 children and teenagers at Little Flower’s Wading River, N.Y., campus.

Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York is a non-sectarian, nonprofit organization that provides residential and foster boarding home care, as well as adoption services. It also operates the only residential special-act public school district in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, which offers academic services for children with special educational needs.

King Kullen operates 46 stores throughout Long Island and Staten Island.
