Kenny Family ShopRites Plans Two New Units

WILMINGTON, Del. -- The Kenny Family ShopRites of Delaware here said yesterday it would open two new stores in the state, one in January 2008, and one in January 2009.

The company, begun in 1995 by president and c.e.o. Bernie Kenny, currently operates three ShopRite supermarkets in Stanton, Concord Pike, and Newark, employing almost 700 unionized associates.

In January 2008 the operator's fourth store, which the owners described as a "first-class supermarket superstore," is slated to open in Wilmington on the Riverfront. In January 2009 a fifth store is scheduled to open in Bear on Rt. 40. All five stores will be located in the state's New Castle County.

The Kennys said they "are striving to become Delaware's premier supermarket retailer and first choice for Delaware's supermarket needs."
