Kellogg USA Issues Allergy Alert

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - Kellogg Co. on Friday recalled Pop-Tarts Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon eight-count, 14-ounce packages because they failed to declare the presence of egg in the products. The food company said that people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to egg run the risk of serious allergic reaction if they consume this product.

Kellogg said there are 730,000 of these packages affected by this allergy alert. The affected products have expiration dates between Sept. 23 and Nov. 27, 2003.

The only affected product is the eight-count package bearing the code K-3111D, and with the specific Better If Used Before dates indicated above.

The company said the packages were distributed in the U.S. and Caribbean.

No illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported to date in connection with this recall.
