Kellogg Names Procter & Gamble Health Exec to Board

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. -- Kellogg Company last week elected Robert A. Steele, vice chairman, global health and well-being of Cincinnati-based CPG manufacturer Procter & Gamble, to its board of directors effective July 1, 2007.

Steele, who has been with P&G for more than 30 years, was recently elected to his current role, leading one of Procter & Gamble's three business units.

"Rob brings to our board a wealth of experience with one of the world's leading consumer products companies," said David Mackay, president and c.e.o. of Kellogg. "Kellogg will benefit from his excellent strategic skills, his experience managing large, complex businesses and his strong expertise in brand building."

Steele began his career with P&G in 1976 as a sales representative. He progressed steadily through the sales organization before moving to brand management in 1986. He was promoted to his first general management position in 1994, and subsequently held four v.p./g.m. roles before being appointed president of its North America division in 2000. In 2004, he was named group president, North America, and in 2006, Group president -- Global Household Care.

Steele is currently a member of the board of trustees for St. Joseph's Home for Handicapped Children and serves on the Miami (Ohio) University Parents Council and the Miami (Ohio) University Business School Advisory Council. He is a former member of the board of directors for the Retail Industry Leaders Association and the Industry Affairs Council of the Grocery Manufacturers Association. Steele holds a Master's degree in business from Cleveland State University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Wooster.

Kellogg is a producer of cereal and convenience foods, including cookies, crackers, toaster pastries, cereal bars, fruit snacks, frozen waffles, and veggie foods. The company's brands include Kellogg's, Keebler, Pop-Tarts, Eggo, Cheez-It, Nutri-Grain, Special K, Rice Krispies, Murray, Austin, Morningstar Farms, Famous Amos, Carr's, Plantation, Ready Crust and Kashi.
