Joseph's Supervalu Wins 'Spooktacular' Chocolate Milk Display Contest

MADISON, Wis. -- Terry Sell, store manager of Joseph's Supervalu in Ishpeming, Mich., and Paul Linsmeyer, sales representative of Morning Glory Dairy, were named grand prizewinners of the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board's (WMMB) "Chocolate Milk. Great Nutrition in Disguise" retail display contest.

More than 30 grocers entered the contest, which was designed to help Midwest retailers increase their chocolate milk sales during October.

Winners were selected based on their creativity, originality, innovative use of the theme, "Chocolate Milk. Great Nutrition in Disguise," and their displays' potential to boost sales of chocolate milk.

Joseph's Supervalu created a spooky red barn filled with mummies and costumed cows showcasing chocolate milk in the center of the dairy case.

"Our employees had a lot of fun creating the 'Chocolate Milk. Great Nutrition in Disguise' display," said Sell. "It filled everyone from kids to adults with the spirit of Halloween."

In addition to the winning in-store display, Joseph's Supervalu promoted chocolate milk during October by running specials, conducting a consumer coloring contest, providing chocolate milk samples to customers, running advertisements and listing the promotion in the weekly store bulletin.
