Joe Caputo & Sons Fruit Market IGA Opens 5th Store
Joe Caputo & Sons Fruit Market IGA has opened its fifth full-service IGA grocery store, in the northwest Chicago suburb of Arlington Heights, one of four former Dominick’s stores purchased by the family-owned independent in January.
The Northbrook store opened in May, and conversion of the Elk Grove Village location is expected to be completed later this summer. The Des Plaines location will be up and running by the end of the year, replacing the current Joe Caputo & Sons Fruit Market IGA Des Plaines location, which will close at that time.
“Like our recently opened Northbrook location, the Arlington Heights store gives us the opportunity to bring our family-owned and -operated brand to a whole new customer base,” said Nat Caputo, president of Joe Caputo & Sons, who owns the operation with his brother, Vito. “We look forward to introducing Arlington Heights to the way we do business. There’s the produce that my brother, Vito, handpicks daily from local purveyors; our personal service from employees who always have smiles on their faces; old-world Italian specialties in our bakery and prepared foods departments made from family recipes; and quality merchandise that’s always sold at the right price. Everything we do at Joe Caputo & Sons Fruit Market IGA comes from the heart, and we can’t wait to show that to our new Arlington Heights home.”
Joe Caputo & Sons, a 5-Star IGA Retailer, has been a staple in the northwest suburbs of Chicago for more than 25 years. In addition to the full-service deli, bakery, and expansive produce section, the 50,000-square-foot Arlington Heights store offers a wide variety of ethnic foods to reflect the diverse tastes of the surrounding customer base. These include Kosher, Italian, Polish, Russian, German, Greek, Lithuanian, Hispanic and Asian foods. The store also includes a sit-down cafe featuring gelato, as well as a wide beer and wine selection in the liquor department.
“Joe Caputo & Sons Fruit Market IGA is truly the premier independent retailer in the markets they serve, and I know the Arlington Heights community will be a great fit,” said IGA SVP of Retail and Business Development Doug Fritsch. “With a successful opening in Northbrook behind them and openings in Elk Grove Village and Des Plaines ahead, Joe Caputo & Sons IGA is the perfect ambassador to help expand the IGA family in Chicago.”
