J&J Acquires ConAgra Frozen Snack Lines

J&J Snack Foods Corp. has entered into an agreement to acquire the frozen handheld business of ConAgra Foods.

The transaction includes ConAgra’s dough-enrobed products sold under the Patio, Hand Fulls, Holly Ridge Bakery, Villa Taliano, Top Picks and private label brands, with manufacturing facilities in Holly Ridge, N.C., and Weston, Ore. The deal is expected to close next month.

“We are excited about this opportunity,” said Gerald B. Shreiber, J&J’s president and CEO. “This is a fine line of products that will expand our portfolio of brands to existing and new venues.”

This acquisition provides J&J with ample flexibility to meet changing consumer needs. The two USDA-approved manufacturing facilities offer a wide variety of enrobed products from sweet to savory, healthy or indulgent, as well as individual retail or bulk foodservice packs.

Pennsauken, N.J.-based J&J Snack Foods Corp.’s principal products include Superpretzel, Pretzel Fillers, Icee, Slush Puppie, Arctic Blast, Luigi’s Mama Tish’s Shape Ups, Whole Fruit sorbet, Mary B’s, Daddy Ray’s and Readi-Bake. J&J has manufacturing facilities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Texas.
