Israel Declares Peanut Puffs Emergency Food
JERUSALEM -- Israel declared Bamba, a peanut butter puff snack, a vital staple food today, and the Tel Aviv-area factory that makes them was readying to issue "call-up" orders for its workers to ensure that production goes on even if there is a military attack.
According to a report, Israel's Labor Ministry believes that Israeli parents have stocked up on the peanut puffs along with other food items as part of preparations advised by authorities in case Iraq attacks Israel with missiles.
"We see the Bamba factory as vital, just like a bakery," ministry spokesman Nahum Eido told the Associated Press. In case of an emergency, the workers at the Bamba plant will receive "call-up orders" just like soldiers do.

Merisant acquired Equal from Monsanto in March 2000 and has worked to turn around the brand. In January it began a campaign featuring restaurateur B. Smith, and had a joint promotion with Blockbuster. This month a print campaign with B. Smith began appearing in national magazines.
