Instacart Expands into Greenville, Charleston, Savannah, SW FL

Third-party grocery delivery service Instacart has expanded into four areas of the southeastern United States, making further progress in its goal of being able to deliver groceries to 80 percent of U.S. households by next year.

The service has moved into the Greenville and Charleston, S.C.; Savannah, Ga.; and southwest Florida areas, adding an additional 900,000-plus households to the number that it already serves nationwide. Among the areas it now services:

  • Greenville residents can now order from such grocers as Whole Foods Market, Publix Super Markets and Costco, with delivery available in Greenville, Mauldin, Overbrook, Wade Hampton, Woodbury, Simpsonville, Woodland Village, Five Forks, Taylors, Greer, Conestee, Dunean, Magnolia Acres, Gantt, Sans Souci, Willow Heights, City View, Judson, Piedmont, Easley, Powdersville, City View, Berea, Welcome, Parker, White Horse, Judson, Dacusville, South Carolina, Whispering Pines, Arial and Heathwood.
  • Charleston residents can now order from such grocers as Publix, Whole Foods and Costco, with delivery available in Charleston, Willtown Bluff, Meggett, White Point Landing, Wadmalaw Island, Johns Island, Moncks Corner, Whitesville, Old Cordesville, Cherry Hill, Windwood, Tarry Town, Mount Pleasant, Whitehall Terrace, Folly Beach, Woodhaven, Summerville, Knightsville, Cotton Hill, North Charleston, Lincolnville, Wood Oak Park, White Church Place, Ashley Retreat, Westoe, Cooke Crossroads, West Oaks, Ashley Forest, Goose Creek, Willowbrook, Sedgefield, Kiawah Island, Seabrook Island, Yellow House Landing, Wando, Hanahan, Wildwood, Forestdale, Ladson, Avenue of Oaks, Isle of Palms, Sullivan's Island, Dewees Island, Ravenel, Rantowles and Hollywood.
  • Savannah residents can now order from such grocers as Publix and Whole Foods, with delivery available in the Savannah metropolitan area, Georgetown, Richmond Hill, the Hunt Army Airfield area, Isle of Hope, the Savannah State University area, Wilmington Island, Talahi Island, Whitemarsh Island, Pooler, Port Wentworth, Garden City and Skidaway Island.
  • Fort Myers- and Naples-area residents can now order from such grocers as Whole Foods, Publix and Costco, with delivery available in Fort Myers, Naples, Immokalee, Marco Island, Cape Coral, Estero, Bonita Springs, Vineyards, North Naples, Orangetree, Lely Resort, Naples Manor, Lely, Marco Island, Old Marco Junction, Dismal Key, Golden Gate, Goodland and Lehigh Acres.

Customers use the Instacart website or app to create shopping lists from their favorite local stores, and Instacart connects them with shoppers who handpick the items on their lists and deliver them straight to their homes. Groceries are delivered in as little as one hour, and first-time users can enter a special code unique to each new area of operation to get $25 off an order of $35 or more, plus free first-time delivery.

Based in San Francisco, Instacart has set a goal of launching in more than 100 new markets in 2017.
