Ingles Markets Names New President
ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Ingles Markets Inc. on Monday announced that James W. Lanning has been named president, replacing Vaughn C. Fisher who retired in December 2002.
Lanning joined Ingles in 1976 while working his way through college. During his 27 years with the company, he has worked in many leadership roles, and has most recently been responsible for a region of stores located in Georgia.
"Mr. Lanning is an experienced and knowledgeable grocer," said Robert P. Ingle, chairman of the board. "He is a proven, effective leader and will bring a fresh perspective to the corporate management team."
Headquartered in Asheville, N.C., Ingles Markets operates 200 supermarkets. In conjunction with its supermarket operations, the company also operates 77 neighborhood shopping centers, all but 17 of which contain an Ingles supermarket.
