‘Incredible’ People Sought for Egg Ads

America’s egg farmers want to know who has what it takes to be the next Incredible Person, for a planned series of ads sponsored by the American Egg Board (AEB). Consumers can visit www.IncredibleEgg.org to upload a video of their own or their children’s extraordinary physical and mental energy skills. Past Incredible People who have appeared in AEB ads include stuntwoman Luci Romberg and world champion sport stacker Luke Myers.

In addition to having the chance to appear in a future advertisement, winners of the current contest will receive a year’s supply of eggs and can choose a local food bank to receive 10,000 eggs from U.S. egg farmers. Additionally, five random entrants will win hand-held video cameras, and, for every video uploaded, egg farmers will provide one egg to hunger-relief organization Feeding America. All entries must be submitted by Feb. 19, 2010.

“Research shows that there are important cognitive benefits of eating breakfast, especially for children,” noted registered dietitian Bridget Swinney, the author of “Baby Bites” and a mother of two. “For 70 calories and 14 cents apiece, eggs are a great choice for breakfast because the high-quality protein in eggs provides steady and sustained energy, helping kids and adults be incredible all day long.”

AEB’s Web site also features a variety of egg recipes.

Park Ridge, Ill.-based AEB is funded from a national legislative checkoff on all egg production from companies with more than 75,000 layers, in the continental United States. The board comprises 18 members and 18 alternates from all regions of the country who are appointed by the Secretary of Agriculture.
