IDDBA Unveils Year-long Food Safety Campaign
The International Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association (IDDBA) has unveiled details of its new food safety initiative designed to build awareness of industry best practices, particularly with regard to decreasing Listeria monocytogenes growth and cross-contamination.
Titled "Safe Food Matters!," the year-long initiative includes a free ServSafe certification class for attendees of this year's Dairy-Deli-Bake Seminar and Expo; free online food safety courses; new custom research on consumer attitudes; as well as a resource page at iddba.org/safefoodmatters, featuring employee training tools, a food safety certification reimbursement program and industry white papers.
“Listeria monocytogenes can literally shut down your food retail business, making it one of the most potentially disastrous foodborne contaminations your stores could face,” said Mike Eardley, president/CEO, IDDBA. “By promoting awareness within the industry and providing resources for retail operators and their employees, IDDBA is expanding its leadership role in addressing this important food safety topic.”
Madison, Wis.-based IDDBA is a nonprofit membership organization serving the dairy, deli, bakery, cheese and supermarket foodservice industries. To learn more about IDDBA’s Safe Food Matters! campaign, visit iddba.org/safefoodmatters.
