HEB Recalls Vitamins With Iron

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- H.E. Butt Grocery Co. here is asking consumers to return HEB Super B-Complex vitamins with iron and 300 milligrams of vitamin C that were purchased at its stores from December 2003 through April 2005, because they don't have child-resistant packaging as required by federal law.

The Perrigo Co., based in Greenville, S.C., issued a voluntary recall of the 14,000 bottles produced during this time period. The pills could cause serious injury or death if ingested by a child, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a news release.

No injuries or incidents have been reported.

The recalled HEB Super B-Complex vitamins with iron and 300 milligrams of vitamin C were sold in 80-caplet containers for about $4 each.

Consumers may return the item to the nearest HEB retail store for a refund or replacement.
