HEB Enhances Network Management Services; Adds Satellite Connectivity

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Regional chain H. E. Butt Grocery Co. plans to enhance its enterprise network services, including the deployment of satellite connectivity to all of its Texas-based stores.

The retailer signed a five-year enterprise networking services contract with Spacenet Inc., a provider of wireless and hybrid terrestrial broadband services. Spacenet has provided services, including private hub network services, to HEB since 1988. The upgraded satellite network supports POS polling, back-office applications, multicasting, and pharmacy fulfillment. (Story continues below.)

"The new features of the Connexstar SE and Enterprise Partition services are an ideal fit for our network requirements, and will further enhance our business operations. HEB is leveraging our existing investment to cost-effectively add even more value to our network withSpacenet's SmartCare network management services."

Spacenet is also providing its SmartCare managed network services, which provide network monitoring, management, and performance measurement services to enhance network reliability and security. As part of the service, Spacenet will proactively monitor and respond to problem resolution issues to provide maximum performance and reliability for critical applications.

HEB serves customers in more than 150 communities throughout Texas and in Mexico.
