Hawaii's Largest Supermarket Chain Selects New Procurement System

PHOENIX - Foodland Super Market, Ltd. of Honolulu, Hawaii, has signed an agreement to use the Intesource suite and services to assist in procuring a variety of goods and services. The deal with Intesource, a food industry procurement specialist, follows the successful completion of a pilot program conducted in December 2002.

"By leveraging the industry knowledge, software and services that Intesource provides, Foodland has enhanced its ability to deliver high-quality products in a more efficient, cost-effective manner," says Joe Detro, v.p., sales and merchandising for Foodland Super Market, Hawaii's largest grocery retailer. The privately owned and operated company has 29 Foodland and Sack N Save stores on Oahu, Maui, the Big Island, and Kauai, and approximately 2,000 employees.

Composed of six modules, the Intesource procurement suite is a hosted, web-based application that is designed to integrate easily with a corporation's existing infrastructure. The comprehensive, full-featured system leverages the flexibility and convenience of the Web to enable purchasing professionals to reduce costs and improve efficiencies throughout the entire procurement cycle. Companies are able to access the best market pricing for goods and services and pass those savings onto their customers.
