Harris Teeter, United Way Offer Community Relief

In its latest campaign with longtime community partner United Way, Matthews, N.C.-based Harris Teeter is once more enabling its shoppers to help their less fortunate neighbors during the Harry the Happy Dragon Donation Card campaign.

Last year, the Southeast regional chain’s customers donated more than $150,000 to United Way by purchasing a Harry the Happy Dragon Donation Card at checkout. This year, through Sept. 16, Harris Teeter associates will sell $1 and $5 cards in all 203 store locations, with funds going to the United Way chapter in the same community where they were collected.

“Harris Teeter and United Way have an amazing partnership that directly helps those most in need,” said Jane McIntyre, executive director of United Way of Central Carolinas. “We are grateful for Harris Teeter and their employees. They are a true community partner!”

Harris Teeter has included United Way in its point-of-purchase donation card campaigns for more than 25 years. The organization and its 1,800 member agencies foster long-lasting community change.
