Harris Teeter Pilots Fiber-Optic Lighting in Leesburg Store
MATTHEWS, N.C. - Harris Teeter Food Markets installed a fiber optic lighting system in its Leesburg, Virginia store and plans to expand the system to other stores it determines are the best fit for the technology.
The retailer installed Fiberstars EFO systems from Solon, Ohio-based Fiberstars, Inc. The manufacturer said it designed the fiber-optic units to provide bright light with no heat, saving energy and protecting heat-sensitive products.
Albertsons, Whole Foods, Pathmark, Publix, and Shaw's have also installed the fiber optic lighting systems, according to Fiberstars EFO.
