Harris Teeter, Piggly Wiggly Raise Funds for Charleston Fire Department
CHARLESTON, S.C. and CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Piggly Wiggly Carolina Co. and Harris Teeter are among the businesses making donations to the City of Charleston Fire Department following the tragic loss of nine Charleston-area firefighters on June 18.
All Piggly Wiggly stores will accept donations for funding of the Charleston Fallen Firefighter Fund. Piggly Wiggly kicked off the funding with a $10,000 corporate gift. This fund will allow guests and employees to make a donation at the register upon checkout, helping raise money for support of the families of the heroes who died battling the fire.
Harris Teeter has said it will be making a $5,000 corporate donation to the City of Charleston Firemen's Fund to assist the families of the dedicated firefighters.
In addition to a corporate donation, Harris Teeter will sell $1 and $5 donation cards at the register in each Charleston-area Harris Teeter store. Associates, customers, and community members can make a donation through July 6. One-hundred percent of the donations collected will be donated to the City of Charleston Firemen's fund and will assist the families who lost their loved ones in the recent Sofa Super Store fire.
