Harris Teeter Gears Up for Annual Food Drive, Donation Card Campaign
Harris Teeter will roll out its annual Harvest Feast Food Drive and Donation Card Campaign on Oct. 27. The Matthews, N.C.-based grocer’s program, which gives shoppers the opportunity to help local food banks feed the hungry, began in 2003.
To date, Harris Teeter has donated almost $1 million to its food bank partners through the initiative, in addition to hundreds of thousands of pounds of nonperishable food items.
During the campaign, Harris Teeter cashiers will sell $5 and $20 Harvest Feast donation cards. The Southeast regional grocer will also accept donations of nonperishable products in collection bins in its stores through Nov. 30.
“Harris Teeter is committed to ending hunger in the communities it serves,” said the company’s president, Fred Morganthall. “Our shoppers have proven their generosity in the past and, by giving them an opportunity to donate, I know we will be able to make a difference this holiday season.”
With just $5, Feeding America helps provide 35 meals to food-insecure men, women and children. All monies and product donated through Harris Teeter’s food drive stay within the local community.
The company’s media partners, WRAL-TV, WRAL-FM, WBTV, WRFX, WCSC-TV, WTKR and WILM, are promoting the effort.
