Harp's Buys Last Dillon's in Arkansas
PRAIRIE GROVE, Ark. -- The last Dillon's grocery store in Arkansas, located here, has been purchased by Springdale, Ark.-based Harp's Food Stores Inc., according to published reports. Details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Harp's - which also owns Price Cutter grocery stores -- is the largest employee-owned company based in Arkansas, and has more than 50 stores in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Missouri.
A spokesperson was quoted as saying that other purchases made by Harp's during the past year include stores in Mountain View, Heber Springs, Russellville, and Dardanelle. Harp's also opened a new store at Har-Ber Meadows in Springdale in January.
At one time, there were Dillon's stores in Fayetteville and Siloam Springs, along with the location in Prairie Grove, which reopened yesterday as a Harp's.
