Hannaford Sponsoring Music at 41st Annual Vermont Maple Festival

SCARBOROUGH, Maine -- Since New England, and Vermont in particular, is known for maple products, regional grocery chain Hannaford Supermarkets, based here, will serve as a sponsor for the Main Street Stage at the 41st annual Vermont Maple Festival in St. Albans, Vt. The event will take place April 27 through April 29.

Hannaford, which describes itself in a statement as "already a strong supporter of the maple-fest," will this year provide the opportunity for musician and children's storyteller Bill Shontz and bluegrass band Banjo Dan and the Mid-Nite Plowboys to perform. Over a dozen entertainers will take the stage, organizers said.

The well-known maple festival features sugarhouse tours, maple product competitions, craft shows, a carnival, pancake breakfasts, specialty food exhibits, an antique show, a grand parade, a youth talent show, and an annual road race known as the "Sap Run," among other activities.

Delhaize Group-owned Hannaford Bros. Co. operates 159 stores under the Hannaford Supermarket and Hannaford Supermarket and Pharmacy banners in Maine, New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
