Haggen Subsidiary to Buy the Last Larry's Market

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Redmond Supermarket LLC, a Haggen, Inc. subsidiary, is purchasing the last remaining Larry's Market store from Supermarket Management Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Associated Grocers that has operated the store since October 2006.

The store, opened in 1999, is the last Larry's Market standing, following the chain's bankruptcy in 2006. Haggen said the deal will close March 1.

The 40,000-square-foot supermarket will become the Haggen's 33rd store, and will continue to operate under the Larry's banner. The retailer plans to remodel the store and will study the feasibility of improvements, including a drive-up pharmacy lane.

"We've been seeking to enter the Redmond market a long time," said Dale C. Henley, president and c.e.o. of Haggen. "This store is a perfect fit for our company since we already have six stores in King County, including Bellevue and Woodinville. We look forward to serving the store's existing customers and introducing other local residents to the highest-quality meat, produce, bakery products, and much more at very competitive prices,"

Haggen operates 32 supermarkets in Oregon and Washington under the TOP Food & Drug and Haggen Food & Pharmacy names.
