‘Guiding Stars’ Unveils Improved Web Site
“Guiding Stars,” the pioneering storewide nutrition navigation system originally introduced at Delhaize banner Hannaford Supermarkets in 2006, has taken the wraps of its revamped website, www.guidingstars.com. The newly designed site now boasts a more streamlined look and features a blog offering the latest health and nutrition news, with contributors ranging from mothers to nutritionists.
Visitors can add their opinions to the blog, get information from members of the Guiding Stars Scientific Advisory Panel, search for Guiding Stars recipes and glean ideas on how to incorporate healthy eating habits into their lives.
According to Jaica Kinsman, Web community specialist at Scarborough, Maine-based Guiding Stars Licensing Co.: “The new site offers a community built on healthy ideals where consumers and potential licensees can learn more about nutritious food choices and healthy living.”
Additionally, Guiding Stars is now available on such social media tools as Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, RSS and YouTube, and the site provides hyperlinks for users to access the system while on the go. Other new features include a newsletter, information on how to become a partner, recipes with star ratings and access to a Shopper iPhone app featuring Guiding Stars.
To promote the enhanced site, Guiding Stars is hosting “America’s Healthiest Big Game Recipe Challenge,” in which consumers can send their healthy and original recipes to http://www.guidingstars.com/news/recipe-contest in hopes of receiving three Guiding Stars. The contest runs through Jan. 18. The first 200 entrants will be entered to win the grand prize, which includes a $250 gift card for a week’s worth of groceries. Five runners-up will receive one $50 grocery gift card each, and all six winning recipes will be posted on the site.
Guiding Stars has been rolled out in over 1,500 East Coast supermarkets, including Hannaford and its fellow Delhaize banners, Food Lion and Sweetbay stores.
