Grocery Retailers Fight Breast Cancer with Pink Ribbon Produce

Harris Teeter, Meijer and Price Chopper have once again teamed up with Pink Ribbon Produce to launch the Fresh Plate Challenge in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

This October, retailers will help spread awareness and support for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF), as well as encourage consumers to fill half of their plate with fruits and vegetables in an effort to lower their risk of cancer.

“We are proud to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation as we enter our ninth year with Pink Ribbon Produce, and our second year encouraging the Fresh Plate Challenge,” said Debbie Augustine, CEO of AugustineIdeas. “This is a challenge that makes it easy for everyone to get involved in and benefit from no matter who you are.”

The Fresh Plate Challenge campaign will also feature an Instagram photo contest, the winners of which will receive a retailer gift card and a donation to NBCF in their name. Those interested can participate using the hashtags #donateNBCF, #freshplate and #pinkribbon.

With the help of its retailer partners, Pink Ribbon Produce has raised more than $409,000 for breast cancer since 2006.
