Grocery Food service Strides: Eat Well, Eat Healthy

4/28/2010
Building on its increasingly popular Kitchen line, Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market – which operates more than 150 stores in California, Arizona and Nevada -- has launched a new 17-item line of eatwell nutrition-focused products that are produced in its central kitchen in Riverside, Calif.

Produced with less sodium, calories and fat, John Burry, Fresh & Easy’s chief commercial officer, said the range of items in the line are “designed to make it easier for customers to eat well without compromising on flavor. With products like Mojito Shrimp and Sweet Chili Chicken, we’re building on the huge success of our Kitchen items and helping our customers more easily manage their diets.”

The regional grocery chain intends to further expand the lineup, with additional products due in the near future. Some of the eatwell items already available include Arroz con Pollo for $3.99; Bruschetta Chicken, $3.99; Veggie Breakfast Bowl, $2.99; Teriyaki Salmon, $4.99; Turkey Chili, $1.99; and Spicy Tuna Sushi Square, $3.99.

All eatwell products contain no more than 25 percent of the daily values (based upon a 2,000-calorie diet) for calories, fat, saturated fat, and sodium, and, like all Fresh & Easy products, contains no artificial colors, flavors or added trans fats. The eatwell products also carry front-of-the-pack nutritional labels, which are designed to communicate the calories, fat, saturated fat, and sodium in a simple manner to customers.
