Grocers Helping Fla. Seafood Via Ad Partnership
Publix, Kroger’s Atlanta division and HEB’s Central Market banner in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, have signed on to promote Florida seafood products this month and the next through an advertising partnership with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
Through Aug. 16, the retailers will advertise Florida seafood products in newspaper ads and in-store promotions featuring “Fresh from Florida Seafood” logos and the “Florida Gulf Safe” logo. The promotion coincides with the height of the summertime grilling season, as well as Independence Day observations.
“The extensive news coverage of the Gulf oil spill has left some consumers with the mistaken impression that Florida seafood is unavailable or in limited supply,” explained Florida Agriculture Commissioner Charles H. Bronson. “This promotion will help get out the message that Florida seafood is safe, plentiful and available.”
The department also offers consumers daily updates about Florida’s ongoing commercial seafood harvest through the toll-free Florida Seafood Hotline at 1-800-357-4273 or online at www.FL-Seafood.com. These resources offer current information on the status of the state’s open and closed fishing harvest areas, the availability of seafood varieties, and general pricing information.
