‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Star Offers ‘Downy Touch of Comfort’ at Sam’s Club

In keeping with her role as spokeswoman for the “Downy Touch of Comfort” program, which delivers handmade quilts to patients at Children’s Miracle Network hospitals across the United States, “Grey’s Anatomy” actress Chandra Wilson made an appearance Saturday, Dec. 12 at a Sam’s Club in Pineville, N.C., for a meet-and-greet event with club members that spotlighted the initiative.

Attendees received an autographed photograph of Wilson, who portrays Dr. Miranda Bailey on the popular ABC TV medical drama, and also had the opportunity to pose for a photo with the star. Later the same day, Wilson and Sam’s Club employees delivered Downy Touch of Comfort quilts to Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, N.C.

“The Downy Touch of Comfort program delivers comfort to children when they need it most,” said Wilson, who is also a mother of three. “As a mom, most of my life focuses on caring for my children and making sure they are safe and secure wherever they may be. It brings me a great deal of joy to be a part of this program and know that Downy is helping children feel more comforted in an unfamiliar and sometimes intimidating place.”

As a way to bring solace and a sense of security to the over 6 million children hospitalized annually in the United States, Downy fabric softener, a brand of Cincinnati-based Procter & Gable, teamed up with Yardley, Pa.-based nonprofit Quilts for Kids, Inc. to create the Downy Touch of Comfort program earlier this year.

Sam’s Club, a division of Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., serves more than 47 million U.S. members with locations nationwide, as well as in Brazil, China, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
