Greg Gregerson Wins NGA’s Spirit of America Award

The National Grocers Association presented Greg Gregerson, president and CEO of Gadsden, Ala.-based Gregerson’s Foods and Pharmacy, with its Spirit of America Award. The honor, presented at Alabama’s Food Industry Finest Luncheon, honors an individual for dedication and service to the independent supermarket industry.

Gregerson has been involved in the industry for 45 years, serving on several industry boards, including Alabama Grocers Association, Alabama Retail Association and NGA while running several successful business.

The NGA Spirit of America Award was established in 1982 and has been awarded to 550 people, including Presidents George H.W. Bush and Gerald Ford.

"It's an honor to recognize Greg, who has always been a strong advocate for Alabama grocers and the independent supermarket industry, with the Spirit of America Award," said Greg Ferrara, VP of Public Affairs at Arlington, Va.-based NGA. "Greg has been a steadfast industry leader who truly understands the importance of educating lawmakers on industry issues, and a mentor to many within the independent supermarket industry. Our industry, as well as Gregerson's Foods and Pharmacy, and the communities it serves, have greatly benefited from his commitment and service throughout his career."
