Goya Opening Georgia Distribution Center

Goya Foods, the largest Hispanic-owned food company in the United States, is poised to open a distribution center in Georgia to aid the company’s expansion in the Southeast. The McDonough, Ga., facility will mark its official opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, Sept. 17, between 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Anticipated to drive economic growth and job creation in the region, the custom designed, energy-efficient facility will serve as Goya's chief distribution center for the entire state of Georgia, in addition to parts of South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee. The facility measures more than 150,000 square feet, with space allowing for future expansion by another 50,000 square feet.

In tandem with the DC's debut, Goya will donate 1,000 pounds of food to St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.

Describing the Georgia center's debut as an "important milestone in our company's history," Frank Unanue, president of Goya Foods of Florida, said, "This new facility allows us to reach sectors of the Southeast region, which will help Goya reach a larger base of consumers and provide a greater variety of Goya products."

Ribbon-cutting ceremony attendees will receive an exclusive tour of the facility and be served a "Goya-inspired" lunch, in the words of the Secaucus, N.J.-based company, which manufactures packages and distributes more than 2,000 food products from the Caribbean, Mexico, and Central and South America.
