Goya Foods Appoints Three VPs

SECAUCUS, N.J. -- Goya Foods, Inc. here has appointed three new vice presidents: Miguel Lugo Jr., Carlos Ortiz, and Rebecca Rodriguez-Llerena. Lugo will serve as v.p. of finance, Ortiz as v.p. and general counsel, and Rodriguez-Llerena is v.p. of logistics.

Robert Unanue, president, said in a statement "The promotion of these three individuals is particularly gratifying, as they each have made invaluable contributions to the sustained growth of Goya Foods as we've expanded to new markets throughout the United States, the Caribbean and Spain," said.

Lugo has more than 27 years of experience in business planning, accounting, and financial management for both domestic and international businesses. He has led the finance function at Goya since July 1996, and is responsible for the overall financial affairs of the company. Lugo recently completed the acquisition of Goya's new distribution business in Madrid, Spain.

Ortiz joined the company in 1989 as general counsel, and has been responsible for protecting Goya's legal rights and interests and providing advice and counsel to Goya's board of directors, officers, and managers. His areas of responsibility have included corporate transactions and matters relating to labor and employment law, intellectual property, real property, corporate governance, government affairs and relations, crisis management, and litigation.

Rodriguez-Llerena has literally grown up with Goya Foods. She began working for Goya more than 36 years ago, during the summers and after school as a high school student growing up in Bergenfield, N.J. Her father, the late Israel (Lelo) Rodriguez, enjoyed a stellar 37-year career at Goya Foods, where he established the traffic department and served as its v.p. until his retirement in 1982.

In her new capacity as v.p. of logistics, Rodriguez-Llerena is charged with the oversight of Goya's 320,000-square-foot warehouse based in Secaucus, N.J.
