Google Shopping Express Offers NorCal Overnight Delivery

Google's Shopping Express is aiming to give Amazon a run for its money with a new overnight delivery service in Northern California.

Orders placed by 7:00 p.m. are guaranteed to arrive the next day; item prices match in-store prices. Google is providing free six-month trial memberships until the end of June. Non-members are charged $4.99 for each store involved in an order.

Google Shopping Express already provides same-day deliveries to the entire San Francisco Bay Area, as well as parts of Los Angeles and Manhattan. Much like eBay, Google's same-day service relies on retail partners to handle fulfillment.

According to a blog post by Google Shopping Express's Product Manager Brandon Trew: "Shoppers in Northern California can order from a range of stores including Blue Bottle Coffee, Cole Hardware, Costco, DodoCase, Fry’s Electronics, Google Play, Guitar Center, Hassett Hardware, L’Occitane, Nob Hill Foods, Office Depot, Palo Alto Sport Shop & Toy World, PhotoJoJo, REI, Smart & Final, Staples, Toys"R"Us and Babies"R"Us, Target, Timbuk2, Walgreens, and Whole Foods Market. We continue to add more stores to the service, so stay tuned."

Overnight service is presently available in East Bay cities including Berkeley, Concord, Danville, Dublin, Fremont, Oakland, Pleasanton, Richmond and Walnut Creek, among others. Meanwhile, Google Shopping Express will roll out overnight service to most of Northern California over the next few months, as Trew writes, "from the California-Oregon border to cities like Fresno and Visalia in the south. Google Shopping Express prices will be identical to in-store prices; no added surcharges or mark-ups will apply. Site users will also be able to take advantage of in-store discounts and accrue loyalty points by providing your store rewards card information.
