GMDC Names New Staff

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - GMDC, the association serving the general merchandise and health & beauty care segments of supermarket wholesalers and retailers, mass merchandisers, drug chains, drug wholesalers and e-retailers, has announced three staff changes.

President/CEO David T. McConnell Jr. announced the following changes:

-- In addition to his role as VP, information technology, Michael Winterbottom has been named chief technology officer, overseeing strategic planning and implementation of the association's information systems, services and processes. He will lead GMDC's fastest-growing department, responsible for identifying and deploying new applications of technology to GMDC's return on investment for its members.

-- Douglas Blough has been promoted to director of communications with responsibility for getting the GMDC message out to the industry and trade press, as well as keeping members informed about association news, new benefits and opportunities. He will also be involved in developing recruitment strategies and continuing to direct and implementing GMDC's advertising program.

-- Vicki Schwindt is the new manager of member services, responsible for identifying member needs and ways to better address them. She will continue to be actively involved in new member recruitment and in assisting members maximize their opportunities through the Association.
