Giant/Martin's Raises $540K for Children's Miracle Network

Carlisle, Pa.-based Giant Food Stores and Martin's Food Markets together raised $540,888 with their annual in-store balloon campaign for Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals.

Customers were asked to purchase a CMN paper balloon at the checkout for $1 from June 23 through July 13.

“The passion and enthusiasm of our associates for Children’s Miracle Network is second to none,” said Rick Herring, president. “I am always humbled to see the overwhelming response from our generous customers, and I want to thank everyone for their support of children who are fighting for good health.”

Giant/Martin's has supported CMN Hospitals for 17 years, recently eclipsing the $30 million fundraising mark. Each year the regional chains conduct balloon and candle paper icon campaigns in support of children’s hospitals in markets including Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Danville/Altoona, Pa.; Baltimore, Md./Washington, D.C.; and Richmond, Va.

In addition to in-store fundraising efforts, Giant/Martin's associates regularly volunteer at CMN hospital events, including radio and television telethons.
