Giant Super Food Store Holds Community Health Fair

The new Giant Super Food Store in Willow Grove, Pa. held a free Community Health Fair last Saturday, April 12, offering blood pressure screenings, heart and stroke risk assessments, and general health education to the public in concert with Abington Memorial Hospital.

The Carlisle, Pa.-based Ahold USA chain set up informational booths from the new Giant Super Food unit’s in-store nutritionist and pharmacy, cooking school, and Nature's Promise Marketplace departments for the fair.

Participants from outside the grocer included the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), Upromise, Lehigh Valley Dairies, Field Trip Factory, the Department of Health's WIC Program, the Willow Grove police and fire departments, Met-Life Safe Kids, Tootsee the Clown, and the Jewish Community Centers of Greater Philadelphia.

On arrival at the fair, consumers received a card featuring logos of all the participating vendors to have stamped as they visited each booth. They could enter completed cards in a grand prize drawing for a children's prize of a birthday party for 10 in the Giant Cooking School; or an adult prize for a $250 Giant gift card.
