Giant Landover Provides Competitor Price Matching on Turkeys
Giant Food is guaranteeing shoppers the lowest price on turkeys for the holidays by matching any competitor's advertised price. As part of that commitment, the Ahold USA banner is offering store-brand turkeys at 99 cents per pound for fresh and 59 cents per pound for frozen. The company has also reduced prices on thousands of popular items, including those that can be used to create festive meals.
"Giant is committed to helping customers save money all year, including during the holiday season," noted Dean Wilkinson, VP of sales and merchandising at Landover, Md.-based Giant Food, noting that the chain's efforts would "deliver the maximum value for shoppers as they prepare their Thanksgiving celebrations."
All Giant stores will be open on Thanksgiving Day until 6 p.m., with in-store pharmacies open from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Additionally, for a limited time, customers can earn 4X gas rewards points on gift card purchases made with their Giant cards between Nov. 21 and Nov. 27.
Further, to mark the season, Giant is donating 1,000 turkeys each to five Feeding America food banks across its Mid-Atlantic marketing area: the Food Bank of Delaware, the Maryland Food Bank, the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank, Blue Ridge Area Food Bank and the Capital Area Food Bank.
Giant operates 169 supermarkets in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia, employing about 20,000 associates.
