As a sponsor of the Washington, D.C., tour stop for Oprahs The Life You Want Weekend, Giant Food LLC, in partnership with Cincinnati-based Procter & Gamble, will offer consumers 30 pairs of tickets to attend the Sept. 19-20 event at D.C.'s Verizon Center, including one grand prize: two VIP tickets with the opportunity to pose for a photo with Oprah Winfrey herself.
Customers of Landover, Md.-based Giant-Landover can enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win by purchasing any four P&G products to receive an official entry code.
"The tour's themes of personal development, encouragement and empowerment resonate with all of us at Giant, as we endeavor to engage and develop women in leadership positions through our 'Women Adding Value' program," said Gordon Reid, president of Giant Food, who further noted that the company was using the event "as a platform to support organizations that are making a difference in the lives of area women."
In the weeks leading up to the event, Giant-Landover is supporting and promoting Mid-Atlantic area nonprofit organizations that help women through the chain's "11 Weeks of Empowerment." During the campaign, the grocery chain will donate $1,000 and feature each of the following organizations in its stores: Girls on the Run (Washington, D.C.); Empowered Women International; Friends of Guest House; Capital Breast Care Center; Suited for Change; House of Ruth; Maryland Women's Business Center; Washington Area Women's Foundation; Women for Women International; Women's Media Center; and Vital Voices.
Produced by Harpo Studios, O, The Oprah Magazine, OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network and WME Live, Oprah's The Life You Want Weekend will feature Oprah on stage, recounting her personal story and insights on one evening, followed by a day-long gathering with thought leaders and pop culture icons such as Iyanla Vanzant, star of the OWN series "Iyanla: Fix My Life"; regular O Magazine contributor and best-selling author Elizabeth Gilbert; and one of Time's 100 Most Influential People, Pastor Rob Bell.
An Ahold USA company, Giant Food operates 169 supermarkets in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia, employing about 20,000 associates.
