Giant-Landover Opens Gas Station in Md.’s Carroll County
Customers of Giant Food LLC can now fill their tanks at the same place they earn their Gas Rewards points: The division of Ahold USA has opened a Giant-operated gas station at Cranberry Square Shopping Center in Westminster, Md. The location is Giant’s 14th gas station.
Shoppers can redeem Giant Gas Rewards points at the new station, which offers four pumps and eight fuel dispensers. The station additionally features a kiosk with a vending area staffed by a Giant employee to handle payments and help customers.
“Our customers earn Gas Rewards points at Giant, and now they can fuel up here, too,” noted John Marx, manager of the Westminster store. “Giant has long been committed to providing our customers with the highest levels of quality, value and service.”
Rolled out in May 2010, Giant’s "Gas Rewards" program enables the chain’s customers to save money on gas when grocery shopping. Shoppers earn one Gas Rewards point for every dollar spent at the grocer’s stores with their Giant card. For every 100 Giant Gas Rewards points earned when shopping at Giant, customers can save 10 cents per gallon instantly on their next fuel purchase, up to 35 gallons per purchase. Gas Rewards points can also be redeemed at more than 400 participating Shell gas stations across Giant’s operating area.
Gas Rewards points are automatically added to a shopper’s Giant card and shown on the shopper’s receipt and at the pump. Additionally, customers can check online at the “My Giant” section of the Giant website to find out how many Gas Rewards points they’ve earned.
Customers can redeem their points at Giant gas stations and participating Shell stations by swiping their Giant card, manually entering the card number, or entering their alternate ID at the pump, which instantly initiates the discount.
Landover, Md.-based Giant operates 173 supermarkets in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia, employing about 22,000 associates.
