Giant Food Raises Almost $1 Million in Golf Outing

CARLISLE, Pa. -- Giant Food Stores here raised $940,000 for area children's hospitals through its annual Children's Miracle Network Golf Tournament, which was held on Monday. It is the seventh year that Giant Food has participated in the event.

"Working for the national office of Children's Miracle Network, I see a lot of great golf tournaments put on by companies both large and small," Clark B. Sweat, v.p. of retail development at Children's Miracle Network in Salt Lake City told Progressive Grocer. "I can honestly say there is nothing like the event that Giant puts on. It's very impressive to see the dedication they have toward hospitalized kids. Everyone in the company, from the CEO, category managers, store managers, and cashiers, gets involved to make this a success."
