Giant Food Appoints New Senior VP of Store Operations
LANDOVER, Md. - Giant Food Inc., a member of the Ahold USA group, has appointed Stephen Neal to the newly created position of senior vice president of store operations. In this role, Neal will be responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for Giant's 188 stores.
Neal joined Giant in 1978 after receiving his bachelor's degree in accounting and finance from George Mason University. Progressing through the company's career development program, he was promoted to store manager in 1986 and became a district manager in 1994. In 1996, Neal was named as Giant's first vice president of corporate diversity. While in that role, he developed the department's initial mission and objectives and also formulated many of the programs that are today a cornerstone of Giant's diversity initiatives. In 1999, he was promoted to vice president store operations, the position he held prior to his recent appointment.
Giant Food operates 188 stores in Virginia, Maryland, and District of Columbia, as well as 13 Super G stores in Delaware and New Jersey.
