Giant Eagle Selects G-Log for Strategic Transportation Initiative

SHELTON, Conn. - G-Log, a provider of global logistics and transportation software, announced that Pittsburgh-based Giant Eagle Inc. has selected G-Log's GC3 application to optimize its inbound transportation management operations.

"We are very excited to have G-Log as our partner for end-to-end transportation management," said Bill Parry, vice president of logistics, Giant Eagle. "We needed a single software platform that provides real-time benefits at every step of the logistics lifecycle including transportation optimization, execution, planning, visibility, event management, and freight payment ? In addition, G-Log has a singular focus on global logistics, something we felt was important to the future of our overall transportation management process."

Giant Eagle expects to complete phase one of its implementation in less than 100 days, and it will include the complete logistics process from purchase order creation to delivery at Giant Eagle's distribution centers. Subsequent phases scheduled for deployment will include management of fresh produce freight and imports. Giant Eagle anticipates cost savings by automating existing processes, on-time deliveries, and increased control of freight movements. G-Log projects 10-15 percent cost savings as an industry average in the retail market.
