Giant-Carlisle's Schlicker Shuffles Exec Talent
CARLISLE, Pa. -- Carl Schlicker, recently named president and c.e.o. of Giant Food Stores, LLC here, has promoted Jeff Martin to e.v.p. of sales and merchandising, Erik Keptner to s.v.p. of advertising and marketing, Ron Domenick to s.v.p. of nonperishables, and Bill deBrauwere to v.p., deli/bakery.
Martin will report to Schlicker and oversee the following leaders and their respective realms: Domenick, the newly named s.v.p. of nonperishables, which was Martin's last position; Rick Waite, v.p. of meat and seafood; Jeff Beaulieu, v.p. of produce and floral; and deBrauwere, the new v.p. of deli/bakery.
A nearly 30-year Giant Food employee, Martin began his career in store operations as a produce associate and later rose to become produce manager, perishable specialist, director of operations, and merchandising and director of produce sales. He was promoted to regional v.p. in 1998, and s.v.p. of perishables in 2002.
Keptner will also report directly to Schlicker and serve as on the Giant Food operating committee. He will oversee Denny Hopkins, v.p. of advertising and marketing; Todd Patti, director of sales development; Steve Chadwick, director of category management; Sharon Eiswert, director of consumer research; and Gerald Griffin, director of consumer relationship marketing. Keptner came to Giant in 1998 as a consumer research analyst, and was later became manager, senior manager, and director of consumer research, most recently serving as v.p. of consumer insight and sales development.
Domenick, a 35-year grocery veteran, will oversee the following individuals and their respective areas, Dan Glei, v.p. of grocery warehouse; Jodie Daubert, v.p. of GM/HBC/fuel; Leigh Shirley, v.p. of pharmacy; Steve Fanion, v.p. of grocery, DSD, frozen, dairy; Denise Mullen, director of corporate brands; and John Lerch, director of retail strategies.
Domenick began with Giant in 1981 as a buyer/merchandiser, and later rose to become manager of grocery merchandising. After a stint as director of retail pricing for the former Edwards division, Domenick moved to Carlisle in 1997 to serve as v.p. of category management support services. He has also held the positions of v.p. of customer specific marketing, v.p. strategic initiatives and continuous improvement, and, most recently, v.p. of merchandising support.
DeBrauwere joined Giant seven years ago as director of bakery merchandising, bringing with him a combined 28 years of perishable merchandising and store operations experience. As v.p. of deli & bakery, he will continue to head the bakery category management team, while also directing the growth and development of the deli and prepared foods department. Additionally, deBrauwere will handle all licensed foodservice offerings, including coffee shops and Asian cuisine.
