Giant-Carlisle to Roll Out Specialty Poinsettia Line
CARLISLE, Pa. -- Starting Nov. 28, Giant Food Stores here will feature a line of specialty poinsettias in its floral departments. Created by White's Nursery & Greenhouses, Inc. in Chesapeake, Va., the festive holiday plants will be available at all Giant locations.
"These specialty plants are a unique twist and an updated look on the traditional poinsettia," said Charlie Pflug Giant's director of floral, in a statement.
Customers will be able to choose from five varieties: Victorian Angel, European Stained Glass, Ice Crystal, Let it Snow, and Copper Canyon. The plants feature such glazing techniques on their leaves as color-coordinated glittered and gilded finishes and sprinkled accents. For example, the Let it Snow variety has the look of a dusting of snow on the leaves of a traditional red poinsettia. Each plant is available for $8.99 with a BonusCard.
White's won the 2005 New Product Award at the Super Floral Show this past June for the Victorian Angel Poinsettia Collection, a new addition to the 2005 European Stained Glass Poinsettia Collection. The nursery currently features 50 unique looks as well as traditional poinsettias.
Giant Food Stores, one of four retail-operating companies under Ahold USA, currently operates 103 stores as Giant Food Stores, 134 stores as Tops Markets, and 23 stores as Martin's Food Markets. With nearly 37,000 associates Giant serves a six state market area.
